About Mulu
Mulu is a beautiful 18 year old young lady whose dealt with a foot deformity for the past 7 years. She does not remember how it happened, but she knows that when she was 11 years old she discovered that it was becoming very difficult to walk on her feet. Thanks to her first surgery, she is on her way to having two straight feet, that will no longer cause her problems when she walks.
Mulu is in the 10th grade. She is getting ready to take her final exams. In Ethiopia, much like in the U.S., grade 10 and 12 are very difficult. She is very smart, and she loves numbers. She hopes to become a physicist or a mathematician when she graduates college.
I noticed that Mulu was playing with Leikum, another CUREkid here in Ethiopia, and I asked her if she would ever want kids. She looked at me like I was crazy and laughed. She told me that she's never thought about it. And she's never thought about marriage for that matter, either. It was a pleasure to speak with Mulu, and it is uplifting to see her smile every time I walk in the room. She smiles at everything. She even smiled when she was being wheeled into the recovery room, although she was in a lot of pain. I'm so excited for her to take her first steps on two straight feet!

Friday March 30, 2012 - Day 35 Mulu's follow up appointment has been scheduled for 03/27/2012 - Mulu came back today for her follow-up appointment. She escaped me before I snapped her picture, though. Sorry! I will get a whole bunch when she comes back, promise!
