About Yehaya
Yehaya is probably the smartest 2 and a half year old I've met thus far here in Ethiopia. His father whispered something in his ear as he was holding him, and Yehaya looked at me, smiled, and said, "How are you?" I almost fell out of my seat. His mother walked over and offered me some of her food. Needless to say, I quickly fell in love with this little family.
Yehaya's mother repeatedly pointed to her head, then to her son and said, "Perfect." I know she is worried that people think because her child is disabled, he must not be very bright. When Yehaya was born, he had clubfeet. The parents took him to a doctor right away, and corrected the feet through casts. Although, his feet were straightened, his legs appeared not to be growing from his knees down. His parents were not discouraged by this. "We were very hopeful. We didn't give up, and he walked." His mother says.
Yehaya's father does not have a permanent job. He works day to day, hoping to provide enough for his small family. Though they do not have much, they all have extraordinary attitudes. The mother worries just like any mother whose child is expecting surgery, but she maintains a smile on her face. The father pushes his son on the swing and laughs at everything Yehaya does.
Yehaya's first surgery will correct his right ankle and leg, then after it heals, the doctors will move on to correct his left side. It will be such a joy to watch this little boy's progress as he begins his treatment!

JSON RSS- Day 97 Yehaya's follow up appointment has been scheduled for 05/21/2012 - Yehaya came to CURE today to get some new shoes to help him in his recovery from surgery. He was cracking us up, hiding under the counter and playing with the administrative assistants feet while she was trying to work. We love this baby.
Monday May 21, 2012 - Day 84 Yehaya's follow up appointment has been scheduled for 05/20/2012 - Yehaya will be admitted again at the end of the month for his second surgery. He is such a happy little baby; we can't wait to have him back!
Tuesday May 8, 2012 - Day 84 Yehaya has arrived at CURE Ethiopia
Tuesday May 8, 2012 - Day 63 Yehaya's follow up appointment has been scheduled for 05/08/2012 - Yehaya was out of here before I had a chance to get a smiley picture of him. But he'll be back soon enough, and I will take a ton of photos. Promise!
Tuesday April 17, 2012 - Day 57 Yehaya is doing great! Yesterday his mom was wheeling him around the ward with a big smile on her face. She is so happy to have a healed baby.
Wednesday April 11, 2012 - Day 55 Yehaya is in recovery at CURE Ethiopia - As I said, super quick surgery. He is in recovery now, sleeping soundly.
Monday April 9, 2012 - Day 55 Yehaya is receiving treatment at CURE Ethiopia - Today he is getting surgery for his right ankle. It will be a quick procedure, and the recovery should be very speedy.

Thursday March 22, 2012 - Day 22 Yehaya's treatment date has been changed to 03/22/2012 - Yehaya came back for a followup, and is now scheduled for surgery in a couple of weeks.
Wednesday March 7, 2012 - Day 13 Yehaya is scheduled for followup at CURE Ethiopia
Monday February 27, 2012 - Day 11 Sorry there hasn't been an update in a while for Yehaya. It appears that he and his family left CURE last week because they decided against surgery. Maybe they will change their mind. On Monday, I will check for a follow up appointment date, and if there is one, I'll update. If there is not one, the funds raised for this child will go toward another CUREkid's surgery. Thanks everyone for your support financially and through prayer.
