About Hermela
Hermela hopes to finally be able to go to school after a surgery at CURE that will give her hope to walk. Because she cannot and has never walked before, she is not allowed by the school to attend, not even in a wheelchair.
She spends her time at home with her parents and siblings. She likes to play with her younger sisters and brother. They always tell her how sorry they are for her, and they are very happy to see her find healing here.
Hermela's father supports the family with private work for a small business, and her mother stays at home with all of the children. Without a free operation, Hermela would not have a chance to walk someday. It is simply not affordable.
Hermela flashed me a big smile as she was being carried away. In just a couple short weeks, she will be experiencing a life change, and by following her story, you can experience it with her!

Day 355Hermela has come back for surgery on her other hip! The tendon holding the leg 'inwards' is very tight so she has been admitted and they are going to release the leg, allowing for a free range of motion! She is now in surgery at CURE Ethiopia. http://bit.ly/ZJJr9d
