Beshadu’s story is like so many others we hear at CURE.
When Beshadu was less than one year old, her mother went out to fetch water, when she came back Beshadu was in the fire. She badly burnt her foot and her parents took her to the nearest clinic but they were told they could not help her. The burns contracted and her right foot became severely deformed making it extremely painful and difficult to walk.
Beshadu was often laughed at and bullied at school. Her parents hid her away in the family house, as the people of their village thought she was cursed because of her disability.
Thankfully, after Beshadu’s treatment at a CURE hospital, she is walking on straight feet and pain free!
Beshadu is full of joy and can now go back to school, she hopes one day to be a doctor.
