CURE Niger and First Lady Celebrate Record-Breaking Surgery Success with New Playground
CURE Niger is the only hospital in the country of over 24 million that offers specialty surgical care for children living with treatable physical disabilities and for the first time, the expert staff at CURE Niger have completed over 1,000 surgeries in a single year! This record-breaking level of impact demonstrates the hard work and faithfulness of the staff who work every day to spread hope and healing to children.
In addition to this medical milestone, CURE Niger has opened the first wheelchair-accessible playground in the country. The playground, which is on hospital property and includes a 10-metre ramp, will aid in the physical and emotional healing process of the young patients.
This fun new addition was made possible through donors and a partnership with Kids Around the World and will allow children of all ability levels to play for years to come.
The playground’s grand opening was celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony by the country’s H. E. First Lady, Minister of Planning and Development, the Governor of Niamey, the Mayor of Niamey, and other local leaders.
Patients and families who were at the hospital during the event were given Christmas presents by the elected leaders. CURE Niger is able to provide record levels of quality and care from surgery to the playground thanks to our generous donors from around the world.
